OUR STORIES...
Many people have been systematically impacted by mass incarceration in one form or another. The systems has many issues. What are the issues of incarceration? Individuals released from prison must find housing, employment, and access to health care, in addition to reintegrating themselves with their families and communities.
We are insurance agents, community specialists, small business owners, and plumbers coming together to make life better for the people in the community, keep the community healthy and safe, and help it function more efficiently.
Increasing the economic capital of returning citizens is a vital component of successful reintegration into society. By providing opportunities for job training, education, and employment, we not only empower individuals to rebuild their lives but also bolster the overall economy. Supporting returning citizens in gaining financial stability not only reduces the likelihood of recidivism but also contributes to a more productive workforce and a stronger community. It is an investment in both the individuals seeking a second chance and the society as a whole, fostering a more inclusive and prosperous future for all. .
Providing a healthy boost to ones self-confidence, self-esteem, and life satisfaction. Doing good for others and the community, which provides a natural sense of accomplishment. Our roles as a volunteer can also give you a sense of pride and identity.
Increasing the political capital of returning citizens is crucial for fostering a more inclusive and representative democracy. When we empower individuals with criminal records to engage in the political process, we not only acknowledge their rights as citizens but also tap into a wealth of diverse perspectives and experiences. By supporting their participation in voting, advocacy, and community leadership, we create a more equitable and just society where the voices of all citizens are heard and valued. This not only benefits returning citizens but strengthens our democracy by making it more responsive and reflective of the entire population it serves.
Our families have endured generations of structural racism, income and wealth inequality, and the devastation that mass incarceration has caused our communities. Helping families heal post incarceration with our non-clinical mental health component has made a difference in our lives.
We AIM to improve social structures and social attitudes, values and behaviors in which Returning Citizens interact, work together, collaborate, and cooperate with others.
